The decision to unite the elections to the Majilis (lower chamber of Kazakh parliament) and maslikhats (local representative bodies), will save 4 billion tenge ($ 27 million) for Kazakh budget, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan Vladimir Foos said, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported.

"The decision to unite the elections to local representative bodies and the parliamentary elections resulted in savings of over 4 billion tenge of budget funds," Foos said at a CEC meeting on Thursday.

According to Foos, a total of 8.2 billion tenge, or roughly $55 million will be spend on election campaign.

Elections to the Majilis and maslikhats will be held in Kazakhstan on January 15, 2012.
