The main goal of Kazakhstan's foreign policy strategy is to strengthen the international prestige and national security, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said on Friday, speaking at the expanded board of the Foreign Ministry.
"Mission of a diplomat is honorable and responsible. To be an ambassador is the top of activities of any diplomat. Ambassador should either meet the highest standards or not be an ambassador," said Nazarbayev.
In addition, Nazarbayev said the diplomats should aim at strengthening the country's economy, bringing new technology to Kazakhstan, promoting the Kazakh business overseas and supporting the import of Kazakhstan abroad.
"With gaining independence we have almost built our foreign service from scratch, and today the republic entered the international level of recognition, and our diplomats also made contribution to this, but time requires constant improvement of the Foreign Ministry and foreign missions, and last year amendments were made in our foreign policy strategy," said Nazarbayev.
