Further actions on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons discussed in Kazakhstan

The Commission's meeting on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction under the Kazakh President was held at the Foreign Ministry, chaired by "Nazarbayev center" director Kanat Saudabayev, "Nazarbayev center" said.

While opening the meeting, chairman of the Commission Kanat Saudabayev stressed that the Commission has made a worthy contribution to the effective implementation of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's policy in the non-proliferation and disarmament in the country and abroad over two years of its activities.

"Further strengthening of the non-proliferation regime and nuclear disarmament process at the global level is the most important foreign policy priority of the country," Saudabayev said.

The Commission has already implemented a number of major projects aimed at strengthening the nuclear and biological safety, strengthening the national export control system. During today's meeting, the participants discussed the implementation of the protocol instructions of the Commission, determined new areas of work, and also exchanged the views on the issues of the current agenda in the sphere of non-proliferation, nuclear safety and Kazakhstan's further actions in this field.

Following the meeting of the Commission, the appropriate instructions were given to state agencies to implement the decisions of the Seoul summit on nuclear security, the establishment of training centers for nuclear safety, further strengthening the nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction and other issues within the jurisdiction of the Commission.
