Kazakhstan, EU develop expanded partnership agreement

The EU has great expectations with the Expanded Partnership Agreement which is being developed, head of the EU representative office in Kazakhstan Aurelia Bouchez said at a meeting with chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Kairat Mami today, the Senate reported.

The EU has great expectations with the Expanded Partnership Agreement which is being developed, head of the EU representative office in Kazakhstan Aurelia Bouchez said at a meeting with chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Kairat Mami today, the Senate reported.

"The EU considers Kazakhstan as an important regional partner and is interested in promoting a multi-pronged dialogue and cooperation," Bouchez said. "Therefore, there are high expectations for the Expanded Partnership Agreement which is being developed."

During the meeting, the sides have exchanged the views on the progress of the political dialogue, the development of inter-parliamentary relations, strengthening the trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU.

Kairat Mami said that the European Union has been firmly established as Kazakhstan's important strategic partner for 20 years. At present, the priority is to develop and to conclude a new agreement to expand partnership and cooperation.

Concerning the inter-parliamentary sphere, speaker expressed the country's interest in intensifying the dialogue with the European Parliament. The Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Kazakhstan-EU has proven itself as an effective dialogue platform.

"Mami said that Kazakhstan understands the European Parliament's great interest in the internal political situation in our country," a press release said.
