Astana, Kazakhstan, April 27
By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Kazakh and Indonesian businessmen are considering the creation of joint ventures in the field of agriculture and textile industry, Indonesian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Kazakhstan Foster Gultom told media on April 25.

"The business communities of the two countries reached an agreement on the establishment of joint ventures in the energy, food, pharmaceutical and tourism sectors as part of bilateral relations," he said.

"One of Indonesian leading food companies intends to establish a joint venture in Kazakhstan," he said. "Kazakhstan is a major grain producer."

The ambassador did not name the date for the joint venture opening.

"The relevant sides are conducting the necessary calculations," he said.

"The work is underway to establish a joint venture for the tire production," he said.

"These will be specific tires appropriate for the Kazakh market," he said. "As Kazakhstan has four seasons, the specific tires are required. Indonesian companies are ready to establish this production with Kazakh partners."

"The two countries have great potential for mutually beneficial cooperation," he added. "Indonesia produces palm oil, natural rubber, wood and other raw materials imported by Kazakhstan. Indonesia needs wheat, cotton and yarn, which Kazakhstan can supply."

The diplomat expressed hope that the businessmen from the two countries will be able to conclude an agreement and to find new promising directions for their cooperation as part of the upcoming 47th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Board of Governors, to be held in Astana on May 2-5.
