Volume of share trades increases at Kazakh Stock Exchange

Volume of share trades on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) significantly increased up to 60.5 billion Kazakh tenges ($178.5 million) in January-May 2016 that is by 2.8 times more than in January-May 2015, said the message on KASE website.

In total, trading volume on KASE amounted to 41.05 trillion tenges ($118 billion) in January-May 2016, which is by 5.8 percent less than in the same period of 2015.

The volume of foreign currency trading on KASE, including currency swap operations, decreased by 50 percent and totaled 16.51 trillion tenges ($46.82 billion) in January-May 2016, as compared to the same period of 2015.

Trading volume of public securities on KASE amounted to 325.9 billion tenges ($926.2 million) in January-May 2016, which is by 12 percent more than in the same period of 2015.

Trading volume of corporate bonds on KASE decreased by 58.7 percent and totaled 154.7 billion tenges ($458.5 million) in January-May 2016, as compared to the same period of 2015.

The trade volume on repo operations (repurchase) market at KASE increased by 2.4 times and totaled 24 trillion tenges ($69.62 billion) during the reporting period, as compared to January-May 2015.
