Kazakhstan approves comprehensive dev't plan for Ekibastuz city

The Government of Kazakhstan approved the comprehensive plan of socio-economic development of Ekibastuz city, Pavlodar region until 2025, Trend report citing Kazinform.

“Ekibastuz is a large industrial and energy center not only in the Pavlodar region but throughout the country. The city has significant potential for the development of the energy sector. The implementation of 114 measures of the comprehensive plan will give a new impetus to the development of the region,” Prime Minister Askar Mamin said at an online meeting of the government.

“Fixed capital investments will increase fivefold and amount to 737 billion tenge ($1.73 billion) in 2025. Projects for the development of housing and other infrastructure, the social sphere and the solution of environmental problems will be implemented,” Mamin noted.

Reminding the planned integrated industrial development of Ekibastuz, the prime minister said that special attention will be paid to the intensive development of the metallurgical industry and the production of railway engineering products.

“In the energy sector, it’s envisaged to build power unit No. 3 and restore power unit No. 1 at Ekibastuz GRES-2 at GRES-1 [power stations], respectively, and most importantly, 16,500 new jobs will be created, average monthly wages will increase by 43 percent. In this regard, it’s necessary to make every effort for the high-quality implementation of the comprehensive plan. We approve this document," he added.

Mamin also instructed the Ministry of National Economy and the authorities of the Pavlodar region, together with interested government agencies, to ensure the timely implementation of the plan's activities.

The comprehensive plan for the city of Ekibastuz was presented by the Ministry of National Economy Aset Irgaliyev at the governmental meeting.
