Kazakhstan talks construction of wind power plants in Kostanay region

The head of the region, Arkhimed Mukhambetov, spoke about the development of wind power plants in the Kostanay region, Trend reports citing Kazinform.

"The project of “Ybyray wind power plant" (owned by Zhel Electric LLP), with a capacity of 50 MW and worth 26.3 billion tenge ($60 million), is being implemented as part of the development of renewable energy sources. At the moment, 15 out of 16 planned wind turbines have been installed [for the wind farm]. This will be the first wind farm in the region,” Mukhambetov said.

According to the region’s administration, in 2023 in Arkalyk [city], KazWindEnergy LLP intends to build the Arkalyk wind power plant with a capacity of 48 MW (20.3 billion tenge or $46 million, 10 wind generators).

Besides, in Arkalyk, “QazQarbon” LLP (Karaganda region) is planning to build a wind power plant with a capacity of 50-100 MW. The estimated cost of the project is 21.4 billion tenge ($49 million).
