Russia’s Main Department of State Expertise Federal Institution (Glavgosexpertiza) has reviewed the project documentation and the results of engineering surveys for the construction of the mining and transport part of the production infrastructure for the development of the open-pit mine of the Tarutinskoye copper deposit, Trend reports via the Russian Copper Company.

According to the company, based on the results of the state expertise, a positive conclusion was issued.

The Tarutinsky area of copper ores is located in the Chesmensky district of the Russian Chelyabinsk region. The eastern border of the site runs along the state border with Kazakhstan. The total area of license area is 1.81 square kilometers.

In August 2021, the intergovernmental agreement on the specifics of carrying out economic activities in the border area when mining copper ores at the Tarutinskoye (Russia) and Eastern Tarutinskoye (Kazakhstan) deposits was signed by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia Alexander Kozlov and his Kazakh counterpart Magzum Mirzagaliyev.

The document was signed during the visit of the Chairman of the Government of Russia Mikhail Mishustin to Kazakhstan. The project investor is the Russian Copper Company.

The Tarutinskoye deposit is planned to be developed for 9.5 years. The mined ore will be delivered by road to the Mikheevsky GOK (Varnensky district of the Chelyabinsk region, part of the RCC Group) for further processing.

The project documentation, which received a positive conclusion from the Glavgosexpertiza, envisages the construction of production and transport infrastructure facilities for the development of the Tarutinsky mine by open-pit mining. The design production capacity of the open-pit mine is 750,000 tons of ore per year.
