BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 17. The number of active small enterprises operating in Kazakhstan grew by 22.6 percent during the tax holidays, which lasted from January 2020 through December 2022, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.

Consequently, the number of active small enterprises in Kazakhstan amounts to 390,300.

Meanwhile, the total number of small enterprises reached 498,000 in early 2023. This constitutes a 5.3 percent increase.

The largest number of active small enterprises, around 50,800, was recorded in Almaty, the financial capital of the country. Astana came as a distant second with 33,300 small companies, while around 11,200 small companies operated in the Karaganda region.

The majority of active small companies worked in the sector of trade and car repair. The number of said companies reached 48,700, an increase of 22.9 percent.

In addition to tax exemptions, also a moratorium on inspections of business entities was in place, which, was extended for another year, unlike the tax holidays.
