BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 19. Kazakhstan Temir Zholy national company (Kazakhstan Railways) transported over 14 million passengers in 2022, Trend reports, citing KTZ.

According to the source, in 2022, the figure for passenger rail transport increased by 21.4 percent compared to the figure for 2021(12. 3 million).

During the reporting period, Kazakhstan Railways launched new passenger trains in the direction of Astana – Zhezkazgan, Almaty-2 – Zhezkazgan, and Astana – Kostanay. A commuter train has been appointed with the message Konaev – Almaty.

Furthermore, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy reached a record-breaking figure in cargo turnover in the company's history, exceeding the mark of 252 billion net ton-kilometers in 2022.

Over 250 million tons of cargo were transported via the KTZ network in 2022. Coal loadings amounted to 106.6 million tons, an increase of 600,000 tons, compared to 2021, at the same time, 70 million tons of coal were delivered to Kazakhstan.
