BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 20. Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan recorded a trade turnover of $598.46 million in 2022, Trend reports, citing the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.

The volume of goods imported by Azerbaijan from Kazakhstan amounted to $494.43 million, while goods worth $104.03 million were shipped in the opposite direction.

The latest figures point to a substantial five-fold increase in Azerbaijan’s imports, while Azerbaijan’s exports also increased by 2.67 times compared to 2021.

The overall trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in 4Q2022 alone amounted to $181.27 million. Azerbaijan exported goods and services worth around $43.51 million, while the imports amounted to $137.75 million. Consequently, Kazakhstan obtained a positive trade balance equaling $94.24 million during this period.

Kazakhstan was Azerbaijan’s second most important trade partner among the CIS states, with Russia retaining the top spot.

This makes Kazakhstan Azerbaijan’s largest trading partner among the Central Asian states. Turkmenistan was a close second, with an overall trade turnover of $535.39 million, and Uzbekistan settled for third place (trade between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan reached $183.30 million in 2022).

Finally, $10.81 million worth of goods and services were exchanged between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, while the volume of trade between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan reached $5.94 million.
