BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 10. A total of 8.8 billion transfers worth 125.1 trillion Kazakh tenge ($276.6 billion) were made using payment cards issued by Kazakhstan's banks in 2022, Trend reports, citing the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
The volume of transactions in 2022 increased by 35.3 percent year-on-year (6.5 billion transactions in 2021), while the transactions value increased by 33.5 percent, compared to 93.7 trillion Kazakh tenge ($207.2 billion).
According to the report, throughout 2022, Kazakhstanis conducted more than 15.2 million transactions daily via digital banking.
Similarly, there is an increase in the volume of non-cash transactions. During 2022, individuals carried out 8.6 billion non-cash transactions in the amount of 103.8 trillion Kazakh tenge ($229.6 billion) using payment cards of Kazakhstan's payment systems, which is an increase of 1.4 times year-on-year.
At the same time, in 2022, holders of payment cards cashed out 21.4 trillion Kazakh tenge ($47.3 billion), which is a decrease of 6.2 percent, compared to 2021.
As the National Bank noted, the most popular way to carry out non-cash transactions in the population is the Internet and mobile banking. Of the ten non-cash transactions, eight are conducted online.
