BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. The average nominal wage in Kazakhstan totaled 340,636 Kazakh tenge ($767.9) in the first quarter of this year which is 19.3 percent higher than in the same period of the previous year, Trend reports via Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of Kazakhstan.
While in nominal terms the value of wage increased over the year, in real terms a decrease of 0.6 percent was recorded.
According to the bureau, the median salary (the central level of the salary range) amounted to 225,736 Kazakh tenge ($508.9) in the reporting period.
Compared to the same period in 2022, the largest increase in average monthly wages was recorded in the fields of construction, by 34.5 percent, information and communication, by 30.3 percent, and provision of accommodation and catering services, by 29.2 percent.
The highest nominal wages are recorded among workers in the mining sector - 766,555 Kazakh tenge ($1,728), followed by the financial and insurance sector - 602,114 Kazakh tenge ($1,357). The information and communication sector is also among the top three with a nominal wage of 541,218 Kazakh tenge ($1,220).
Furthermore, the highest increase in average monthly nominal wages compared to the same period of 2022 was recorded in the Atyrau region with 29.4 percent, while the smallest growth was observed in the West Kazakhstan region with 11.9 percent.
