BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. Kazakhstan expects to harvest over 21 million hectares of grain this year, Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Yerbol Karakusheyev told reporters on the sidelines of the Senate, Trend reports.
"As for yield plans, we have had timely moisture accumulation this year for all moisture-closure operations. The sowing process is currently in full swing, and the forecast is favorable. We anticipate a very good average annual harvest. Also, we expect to cultivate over 21 million hectares of grains and legumes, and more than 16 million hectares of wheat," stated Karashukeev, responding to journalists' questions at the Senate.
Furthermore, the minister highlighted that the yield forecasts for this year are favorable.
"The forecast is favorable, and we are doing everything possible to complete the sowing operations within the prescribed agronomic timelines to achieve a good harvest," he added.
In 2022, the agricultural sector celebrated a remarkable accomplishment as Kazakh farmers harvested an unprecedented amount of grains, reaching nearly 23 million tons, while a year earlier, the country experienced one of its most unfavorable harvests, with only 16.6 million tons of grains collected due to prolonged drought conditions.
