BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 28. Kazakhstan's Turkestan region has taken the lead in livestock development in the country, Akim (Governor) of the region Darhan Satybaldy said at a briefing, Trend reports.
According to Satybaldy, livestock and its productivity are growing at an average rate of 4 percent, while the region is holding the top position in meat exports within the country. The share of beef cattle meat accounts for 85 percent, while small ruminant meat represents 60 percent.
"In the first five months of this year, we have exported 5,000 tons of beef cattle meat and 2,600 tons of mutton. Additionally, the 'Aul Amanat' project is being implemented in six areas. The project has been allocated 19.8 billion tenge ($43.8 million), and for the next year, 35 billion tenge ($77.5 million) has been allocated. We are confident that this will give a boost to the region," he said.
The governor also added that, over the past five years, the gross regional product of Kazakhstan's Turkestan region has doubled, reaching 3.5 trillion tenge ($7.7 billion).
