ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 13. There is significant potential for Kazakhstan to supply 80 processed goods from various sectors, amounting to $411.9 million to Pakistan, Serik Zhumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, said, Trend reports.
He made the remark during a meeting with Farrukh Shahzad Rao, CEO of National Logistics Cell (NLC), a leading multimodal logistics company in Pakistan
The meeting took place in Astana, with the aim of exchanging views and initiatives on the development of trade and logistics opportunities between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
During the meeting, Serik Zhumangarin emphasized the importance of Pakistan as a key trading partner for Kazakhstan in South Asia. In this regard, he mentioned the untapped potential to increase trade turnover between the countries.
"The expansion of cooperation in the transport and logistics sectors plays a crucial role in intensifying our partnership. The ports of Pakistan – Gwadar, Karachi, and Qasim – are of great interest to us, as they facilitate the export of Kazakh products to the markets of Pakistan and South Asia, while also enhancing the transit potential of our countries for accessing export markets in South Asia," the minister said.
Zhumangarin proposed exploring options for mutual supplies through overland routes via Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan, utilizing seaports through the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), the territory of Iran, or China.
