ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 14. Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) is considering the construction of a direct power transmission line from the North to the South of Kazakhstan (from Ekibastuz to Zhambyl), Trend reports.
The idea came following Russia's proposal to build a new power transmission line from Siberia to Kyrgyzstan through Kazakhstan. If KEGOC decides to settle for the long-term development of the National Electric Grid until 2035, then Russia's proposal will not be accepted.
"If a positive decision is made regarding the implementation of the National Electric Grid plan, there is no need to build a power transmission line by the Russian side through Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan," the company said.
KEGOC plans to resume work on preparing a feasibility study for the construction of a direct current transmission line, included in the company’s development strategy until 2032.
Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company joint-stock company is an Astana-based state company of Kazakhstan established in 1997. Kegoc's goal is to ensure reliability, availability and advanced development of the energy system of Kazakhstan.
