ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 27. Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev met with Member of the CPC Leadership Group of the Ministry of Commerce, Vice Minister and Deputy China International Trade Representative Ling Ji, as the two sides discussed the current results and prospects for bilateral cooperation in the road transport sector in Beijing, Trend reports.
During the meeting, Karabayev spoke about implementation of infrastructure projects and expressed the Ministry’s position on the activities of Chinese companies which constructing roads in Kazakhstan.
He noted the importance of completing work under contracts on time.
Matter of financing Kazakh projects with the involvement of large Chinese financial institutions was also discussed. The parties noted the big opportunities for expanding investment cooperation, since in order to fully unlock the potential of transit freight road transportation, it is planned to continue the modernization of existing transport corridors through the construction and reconstruction of 4,000 km of roads.
Following the meeting, representatives of the ministries confirmed their intention to expand joint work.
Kazakhstan has been making significant efforts to modernize its automotive infrastructure. As part of these efforts, old and worn-out road sections are being replaced, the geometry of the tracks is being improved, modern road signs and markings are being installed, and modern technologies are being introduced to ensure the durability and safety of the road surface.
