ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 29. Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ, a national company) and the German DB Engineering and Consulting (DB E&C) signed a cooperation agreement, Trend reports.
The document was signed in Berlin as part of the visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Germany.
The agreement is a continuation of the successful cooperation that began in 2019, the economic effect of which amounted to about 12 billion tenge (about $253 million).
Strategic partners plan to implement projects on intermodal transportation, develop hub systems, and introduce best practices in marketing, service, and sales, which will help improve the quality of services for the country's population.
DB Engineering & Consulting is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, the largest railway concern with 180 years of experience. The company occupies a leading position in passenger and freight rail transportation in Europe.
KTZ is the largest operator of the main railway network in Kazakhstan. The sole shareholder of the company is the national fund "Samruk-Kazyna", 100 percent of whose shares are controlled by the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
