ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 26. The construction of the international digital transport and logistics hub "Dry Port-Kolzhat" is planned in the Uyghur district of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
This was stated at a meeting of the operational working group on the development of cross-border hubs in the government of Kazakhstan.
The hub will be built taking into account the increase in cargo transportation from China and the modernization of the Kolzhat checkpoint.
The project is divided into two stages; its implementation period is from 2023 through 2027.
The project provides for the construction of temporary storage warehouses, service centers for transport, the creation of services for the provision of government, brokerage, and support services, and a center for the export of goods.
The territory for construction, with a total area of 8,500 hectares, has also been determined.
New transport and logistics projects were also presented at the meeting.
Earlier, the Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, Kayrat Torebayev stated that five cross-border trade hubs are being created in Kazakhstan.
This is the international center of industrial cooperation “Central Asia” in the Turkestan region (Uzbekistan); the industrial trade and logistics complex in the Zhambyl region (Kyrgyzstan); the cross-border trade center “Eurasia” in the West Kazakhstan region (Russia); the container hub "Caspian" in the Mangystau region; as well as the cross-border hub "Khorgos knot" in the Zhetysu region (China).
