ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 27. The number of Visa International payment cards in circulation in Kazakhstan amounted to 36.586 million at the beginning of September 2023, Trend reports.
According to data from Kazakhstan's National Bank, the number of cards has increased by 5.724 million from the beginning of September 2022 (30.962 million).
Furthermore, the use of Visa International cards has increased. Thus, the number of cards used in the beginning of September 2023 was 18.535 million (14.774 million at the beginning of September 2022).
For the period under consideration, there were 33.803 million Visa International debit cards, 1.013 million credit cards, and 1.769 million debit cards with a credit limit and prepaid cards. Simultaneously, 17.95 million debit cards, 354,700 credit cards, and 230,400 payment cards were utilized.
As of September 1, 2023, Kazakhstan had 71.4 million payment cards in circulation. Debit cards account for 80.3 percent of all transactions, while credit cards account for 16.9 percent. 2.7 percent of debit cards with credit limits and prepaid cards were used.
Kazakhstan had 61.7 million payment cards in circulation as of September 1, 2022.
