ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 31. Kazakhstan is already implementing and has planned a number of projects for the near future to develop the country’s transit potential, said the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev, Trend reports.
He spoke during an online meeting with large transport and logistics companies of foreign countries on issues of cooperation and investment in infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan. More than 100 foreign enterprises took part in the meeting.
Among these projects, the minister mentioned the building of 1,300 kilometers of railway track, a third railway crossing and a new dry port on the border with China, a "container hub" in the port of Aktau, a multifunctional terminal "Sarzha," and an increase in the Caspian Sea merchant fleet.
According to him, the continuous completion of new and refurbished republic roads, as well as the implementation of a visa-free regime with China and China's entrance to the European TIR Carnet agreement, will provide additional momentum for transportation development.
The minister also informed the firms on the current state of the republic's transportation industry, as well as the prospects for the growth of Kazakhstan's transport and logistics capabilities.
One of the key economic advantages of Kazakhstan is its high transport and logistics potential. For its further development, a corresponding Concept until 2030 was developed, providing for measures to increase the speed of delivery of passengers and cargo, the introduction of digitalization and intelligent management systems, the development of missing transport connections between centers of economic activity and populated areas, increasing the capacity of international transit transport corridors, logistics terminals, etc.
