ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 23. Kazakhstan plans to attract foreign investments to implement large gas projects, said the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almassadam Satkaliyev, Trend reports.
"It is planned to attract foreign investments to implement some projects," he said.
According to him, projects planned for implementation at the expense of foreign investors are the construction of the 2nd line of the main gas pipeline "Beineu - Bozoy - Shymkent" (15 billion m3/year), the construction of the main gas pipeline "Aktobe - Kostanay" (4.1 billion m3/year), construction of 2nd,3rd,4th stages of the Saryarka main gas pipeline (1.7 billion m3/year) and construction of the Taldykorgan-Usharal main gas pipeline (385 million m3/year).
To note, during the recent visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Qatar, agreements were signed with Qatari investors (Power International Holding) on the joint implementation of projects for the construction of the 2nd line "Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent” and "Aktobe-Kostanay".
"By 2030, the level of gas supply to the population is planned to be increased to 65 percent. At the end of 2023, the level of gas supply to the population was 60 percent (12 million people have access to gas). This year, 90.4 billion tenge (about $200 million) have been allocated to continue gas supply, which will provide gas to 244,000 people or increase the level of gas supply to 61.1 percent," the minister said.
Meanwhile, at the end of 2022, the level of gas supply to Kazakhstan was 59 percent. 142 gas projects worth 96.1 billion tenge (about 201.4 million) were implemented in the regions, which made it possible to provide access to natural gas to 285,000 citizens in 107 rural settlements.
