Plans for agricultural investment in Kazakhstan's Abay region disclosed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. In 2024, Kazakhstan's Abay region will implement 10 projects worth 11.8 billion tenge ($24.8 million), the agriculture administration of the region told Trend.

"In 2024, a total of 10 projects with a value of 11.782 billion tenge will be implemented. These include two projects to expand dairy farms, seven projects to introduce new irrigated lands, and one project to reconstruct the agricultural animal artificial insemination laboratory. Additionally, Qazaq Astyq Group plans to launch a production line for 200 tons of refined vegetable oil per day (72,000 tons annually), with the project expected to be completed and operational by 2025," the administration said.

The state agency also noted that this year, Yqylas Invest LLP will open a meat canning factory with an annual capacity of 600 tons of finished products.

"Furthermore, the 'Construction of a Meat Processing Plant for Meat and Meat Products with a Capacity of 35 Tons per Shift' project by Eurasia Agro Semey LLP has commenced. The project, scheduled for completion between 2024 and 2026, has begun construction. The credit committee of Halyk Bank has approved a 6 billion tenge loan ($12,65 million), with 3.8 billion tenge ($8 million) of its own funds to be invested," the department added.

It was also noted that this year, eight projects worth 1.85 billion tenge ($3.9 million) have already been completed. This includes a project to improve the agricultural gene pool, costing 93.6 million tenge ($197,327), and the purchase of 459 cattle for breeding.

Additionally, a project to establish a sunflower processing facility for producing unrefined sunflower oil and cake was carried out at a cost of 82 million tenge ($172,872 dollars). Six projects focused on updating the material and technical base (including the expansion of the machine and tractor stock) were completed for 1.675 billion tenge ($3,53 million), and 10 units of agricultural machinery and equipment were purchased.
