Kyrgyzstan Materials 3 August 2009 04:28 (UTC +04:00)

The ceremony of inauguration of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev who has been re-elected for the second term of office was held in the House of Government of Kyrgyzstan on Sunday. He won the July 23 presidential election in the country getting almost 77 percent of votes in his favour, Itar-Tass reported.

Deputies of the national parliament and foreign diplomats accredited in the republic were watching the ceremony of taking oath by Bakiyev. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev was present as a guest of honour. The inauguration that was rather modest at the request of Bakiyev ended with 12 artillery salvos.

Bakiyev had for the first time won the presidential election in Kyrgyzstan on July 10, 2005 getting almost 90 percent of votes. His next victory 4 years later was no less convincing, because his closest rival - single candidate from the opposition forces - Almazbek Atambayev - got just 8.4 percent of votes.

Several days ago, the newly elected Bakiyev made a televised address to the nations assuring the people that he would fulfil all his pre-election promises. He intends first of all to conduct the reform of the state government bodies and modernisation of the national education system.
