Kyrgyzstan Materials 23 December 2009 15:37 (UTC +04:00)

The Jogorku Kenesh (the parliament of Kyrgyzstan) selected the new chairman candidate. Ak-Jol presidential party unanimously decided to nominate Zainidin Kurmanov, whose candidacy was proposed by political council of the party earlier, Ferghana.Ru reported.

Kyrgyz parliament press-service reports that Kurmanov's candidacy was proposed by Tabyldy Orozaliev, the deputy Chairman of Ak-Jol political party.

It has to be mentioned that on December 17 the former speaker of the parliament Aitibay Tagaev was appointed as the Governor of the Batken Oblast instead of ex-Governor Muratbek Djumabekov that was fired due to "poor performance".

Today, Ak-Jol party has 71 seats in the 90-seat parliament; therefore, regardless of two other parties, Mr. Kurmanov's party will be certainly approved.

Allegedly, Zainidin Kurmanov is a nature of a compromise; he does not belong to any of the existing political groups. He used to be active member of political group, headed by former Head of President's office Medet Sadyrkulov that died in the car accident under very strange circumstances in March of this year.

New speaker barely speaks native (Kyrgyz) language. Ferghana.Ru experts note the official biography of Kurmanov very briefly mentions his period in Moya strana party, headed by Sadyrkulov.

Zainidin Kurmanov is 54 year old and he is native of Frunze. He graduated from history department of the Leningrad University, Kyrgyz state national university and military college center, named after G. Marshall.

In various years he was the professor of Interior Ministry school of Kyrgyz Republic, Kyrgyz state pedagogical university, named after Arabaev, Kyrgyz-Russian Slavonic University.

In 2000-2005 he was the deputy of Jogorku Kenesh legislative assembly. He was back in academics (Kyrgyz state university) in 2005-2007. Since 2007 Mr. Kurmanov is the chairman of Committee for constitutional legislation, state structure, law and human rights under the parliament of Kyrgyzstan.

Zainidin holds Ph.D in history (1998) and professor status (2000). Besides, he is honored educator (2002) and state advisor of II rank.
