Roza Otunbayeva was elected the president of the transitional period of Kyrgyzstan. According to recent data by the state automated system "Shayloo" ("Election"), majority of electors voted for her. Due to the adopted amendments to basic law, a parliamentary form of governance was also introduced in the country, ITAR-TASS reported.

During referendum in Kyrgyzstan on June 27, citizens were asked to answer "yes" or "no" once to three questions: vesting Otunbayeva the powers of the president until December 31, 2011, adopting a new constitution and abolishing country's Constitutional Court. According to the Central Electoral Commission, about 1.9 million of the 2.7 million voters participated in the referendum in the country.

"Preliminary official results will be announced near the morning of Monday," CEC head Akylbek Sariev said earlier.
