Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan decides to withdraw forces from bordering territories

After the negotiations of Kyrgyzstan's and Tajikistan's officials, the sides agreed to take measures on withdrawal of military forces from the bordering regions, Kabar Agency reported on Jan. 13.

The negotiations were organized as the result of an armed incident on Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan border on Jan. 11, which caused injured to both sides.

During the negotiations the Tajik side was insisting on the cancellation of Kok-Tash-Aksay road's construction, while the Kyrgyz side reported that it plans to continue the construction and proposed passing this issue to the bilateral intergovernmental commission of the two countries.

During the negotiations the sides also touched on the issue of taking preventive measures that would help to avoid such incidents on the border.
