Kyrgyz parliament has approved a new structure and composition of the government, headed by Kyrgyz Prime Minister Temir Sariyev Nov. 4, RIA Novosti news agency reported.
Sariyev supervised the work of the government during the last six months, and he was again nominated for the post of prime minister by the new VI convocation of Kyrgyz parliament elected October 4.
In accordance with the Constitution of Kyrgyzstan, which became a parliamentary republic in 2010, the candidacy of prime minister is put forward for consideration of the legislature by majority coalition in Jogorku Kenesh (unicameral parliament) of the republic.
The prime minister in consultation with the coalition offers the structure and composition of the cabinet of ministers, in which portfolios are allocated on quotas among party factions within the ruling majority.
The structure and composition of the Kyrgyz Cabinet underwent minor changes, the number of ministries decreased from 15 to 12. The defense institution, which has been reformed into the state committee for defense, has lost the status of the ministry. The ministry of labour, migration and youth has been transformed into the service of migration and employment.
Two national holding companies - energy holding company, which will receive some of the functions of the liquidated ministry of energy and industry, as well as the holding company for state property management will be created at the government for the first time in the country.
