Migration is a catalyst for the economic development of Kyrgyzstan, UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan Ozonnia Ojielo told at an event dedicated to the International Migrants Day, Trend reports referring to kabar.kg.
He said that 60 million people around the world are migrants, they are leaving their country to seek new opportunities.
Ojielo further continued saying that the government of Kyrgyzstan is thinking about how to stop the brain drain from the country. It is necessary to implement programs for citizens to return home with new knowledge and new views. For its part, the UN has been helping the country for 20 years by implementing various projects. Migrants bring great monetary benefits to the country.
According to him, the study showed that every 5 people in the Kyrgyz Republic are internal migrants, the bulk is constituted by women. 44% of internal migrants live in the capital to improve quality of their life.
