BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 7. Kyrgyzstan's energy industry nowadays is facing financial difficulties, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the ministry, the present arduous financial and economic situation in the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan is due to low tariffs, which do not cover the cost of electricity and heat production.

"In Kyrgyzstan, the previously existing tariffs in the amount of 0.77 soums per 1 kWh up to 700 kWh have been retained. In addition, a new tariff was introduced in the amount of 0.50 soums per 1 kWh for low-income families," the ministry said.

Meanwhile, in order to increase electricity generation, Kyrgyzstan has already started implementation of the largest project of the Kambarata-1 HPP and the small Bala-Saruu HPP, as well as other projects.
