BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 23. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) - the world's largest humanitarian organization has published "Kyrgyzstan Country Brief for October 2022", Trend reports citing the WFP.
According to the organization, in October 2022 the World Food Programme assisted 31,050 people in Kyrgyzstan, providing a total of about 124 tons worth of food assistance.
"In addition to the funds made available through the Central Emergency Response Fund, WFP received additional resources from the governments of Japan and Switzerland to scale up the lifesaving support to the affected communities in Batken and Osh provinces," the WFP said.
The choice of transfer modalities and activities are being closely coordinated with the Government, donors, UN Country Team and humanitarian partners to ensure full alignment with a joint Emergency Response Plan.
Currently, the World Food Programme is leading the critical sectors of food security and logistics in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and helps to strengthen the assessment of the socio-economic situation and plan appropriate responses. WFP continues its field work and food distribution to vulnerable households, ensuring the highest safety standards are met.
