BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 8. China is ready to provide assistance to Kyrgyz exporters in creation of favorable conditions for commodities import from Kyrgyzstan, Ambassador of China to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen said, Trend reports via Kyrgyz media.

The issue was discussed in the meeting between Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Bakyt Torobaev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Kyrgyzstan, Du Dewen, in Kyrgyz Bishkek.

At the meeting, the ambassador said that China is interested in import of Kyrgyz agriculture commodities to China, particularly seeing as the country has a wild demand for environmentally friendly products.

During the meeting, the Kyrgyz minister noted that realization of earlier agreements between Kyrgyzstan and China suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be resumed. In particular, the minister suggested restarting the work on implementation of agreements reached following the Kyrgyz-China business-forum in 2019. Within the framework of that business-forum some 24 memorandums and agreements were signed.

“We are happy for the assistance provided in the form of grant for the implementation of bypass Chui canal — 2 construction projects (in the northern part of Kyrgyzstan, worth $57 million), which will enable to increase water supply for our irrigated lands. The construction work here is planned to be resumed in spring 2023,” Torobayev said.

He also emphasized the importance of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction. According to him, the sides must complete the necessary field studies and develop a feasibility study by June 2023.

As Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov said in November 2022, the project will complete the railway and road sections of the Trans-Caspian Transport Route and will speed up the transport of the cargo to Western countries.
