BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. The ADB (Asian Development Bank) has published an update data on Regional Improvement of Border Services Project (RIBS) in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports with reference to the ADB.

The total financing amount of the RIBS is $9.8 million, of them $8.4 million was allocated by the ADB and $1.4 million - by other institutions.

The project is being executed by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, the implementing agency is the State Enterprise Single Window Center in the Foreign Arena under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan.

The project was approved on April 1, 2013, and is expecting to be closed on March 31, 2023.

The project aims to support the construction and renovation of border crossing points (BCP) in the country. It is going to benefit customs control, simplification of customs procedures, and the development of information and communication technology for customs modernization.

Within the project, the inspection facilities including customs, sanitary and quarantine, and veterinary checkpoints are expected to be improved to handle traffic growth and improve the inspection process at the Karamyk BCP in Kyrgyzstan. The power, water supply and sewerage facilities, communication facilities, and office and inspection equipment are also expected to be provided.

Asian Development Bank has been operating in Kyrgyzstan since 1994. The bank has provided to the country the projects and financial assistance totaling $2.41 billion as of April 2022. The ADB’s operation in Kyrgyzstan includes improving the country’s business environment, providing access to affordable finance, improving of the reliability of electricity services, enhancing transport connectivity and others.
