BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 18. Hungarian hotels and restaurants will receive a supply of lamb meat from Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports via Kyrgyz media.

This was announced by the representatives of the Hungarian Matusz-Vad company, Kyrgyzstan’s Toro domestic company, and the National Investment Agency at a press conference in Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek on April 14, following which the contract for the deliveries between Toro and Matusz-Vad was signed.

Initially, 20 tons of meat will be exported from Kyrgyzstan each week, with plans to increase this to 40 tons per week in the future.

According to Patrick Matus, director of the Hungarian company, Kyrgyzstan's natural resources and high standards for halal meat make their lamb superior in quality to that of New Zealand.

Matus added that his company has over 2,500 partners throughout Europe, including well-known restaurant chains, hotels, catering services, and supermarkets. They plan to supply Kyrgyz meat to the hotel and restaurant industry first, before eventually introducing it to supermarkets for wider consumer consumption.

Emil Mambetkulov, General Director of Toro emphasized the high demand for halal products in Europe, which is home to 44 million Muslims.

Mambetkulov revealed that only steaks will be exported to Hungary, and the Kyrgyz company will purchase livestock from local farmers in large quantities to prepare the meat for export according to halal standards and European requirements.

Matusz-Vad is one of the leading companies in the frozen food business in Hungary, and also a supplier of Hungarian hotels, and restaurants.
