BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 1. Kyrgyzstan imported 4,872 tons of wheat and rye flour from January through February 2023, which is a 40-percent increase year-on-year, compared to 3,462 tons in the same period of 2022, Trend reports via State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

During the corresponding period, the main supplier of the flour to Kyrgyzstan was Kazakhstan – 4,625 tons. The figure increased by 41.7 percent compared to 3,265 tons from January through February 2022.

Russia, being the second supplier of the flour to Kyrgyzstan, sent to the country 246.7 tons in the first two months of 2023, which is 25.1 percent more than in the same period of 2022 (197 tons).

The main supplier of wheat and rye flour to Kyrgyzstan was Kazakhstan last year as well. The country exported to Kyrgyzstan 18,900 tons of flour for $8.4 million. Russia provided Kyrgyzstan with 7,400 tons of flour for $3.4 million.

Overall, the country imported 26,700 tons of wheat and rye flour for $12.4 million in 2022.

In addition, Kyrgyzstan imported 309 tons of flour from the US, four tons from South Korea, and one ton from Belarus.
