BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. OPEC Fund for International Development plans to allocate $15 million for the reconstruction of Talas-Taraz-Suusamyr highway in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan.

The respective agreement was signed following the meeting of Kyrgyz delegation headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev and the Minister of Finance of Kyrgyzstan Almaz Baketaev, with the Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development, Abdulhamid Alkhalifa as a part of the 48th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

The main objective of the Talas-Taraz-Suusamyr highway project is to develop and improve the network of public roads in the Kyrgyzstan. In particular, to improve one of the most important roads in the country, Talas-Taraz-Suusamyr, which will increase international and interstate connectivity and trade, promote economic growth in the region, improve the quality of life, and ensure the safety of road transport, according to the Kyrgyz ministry.

The road serves as connection between the Talas region and the Chui, Jalal-Abad, and Osh regions of Kyrgyzstan, as well as with the southern regions of Kazakhstan.
