Volume of honey exports from Kyrgyzstan increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Kyrgyzstan exported more honey, but for a lower value, from January through March 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, Trend reports.

During this period, the country exported 94.1 tons of honey, which is an 18.1-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 (79.7 tons), the Kyrgyz statistics said.

Despite the increase in quantity, the value of the export decreased by 3.5 percent, amounting to $318,200 in 1Q2023 compared to $329,800 in the same period of 2022.

A significant growth in honey exports from Kyrgyzstan to several countries has been registered. The country that experienced the highest increase in export volume is Japan, with a nearly fourfold year-on-year increase, going from 2.1 tons of honey to 8 tons.

The second-largest growth was registered in supply to Kuwait - exports to this country increased by 3.6 times compared to the same period of 2022 – from 600 kg to 2.2 tons.

Meantime, the export of honey to the South Korea significantly fell by 94 percent year-on-year – from 12.7 tons in the January – March 2022 to 900 kg in the same period of this year.

The main buyers of the Kyrgyz honey in the reporting period were China (39.8 tons), Saudi Arabia (16.7 tons), the UAE (16.2 tons), Qatar (5.2 tons), and the US (3 tons).
