Trade turnover between Russia, Kyrgyzstan drops

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Russia amounted to $702 million or 18.1 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total trade turnover from January through April 2023, making Russia the main trade partner of the country, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the figure decreased by 15.6 percent compared to the same period of 2022, when it stood at $831.7 million.

In the reviewed period, Kyrgyzstan imports from Russia valued at $544.4 million, which is a 22 percent decrease compared to the period of January through April 2022, when imports stood at $697.1 million. The imports from Russia constituted 16.7 percent of Kyrgyzstan's total imports.

On the other hand, export supplies from Kyrgyzstan to Russia reached $157.6 million, increasing 17 percent over the same period of 2022 ($134.5 million). Exports to Russia accounted for 25.6 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total exports.

Meanwhile, trade between Kyrgyzstan and the CIS countries amounted to $1.3 billion, representing 34.15 percent of Kyrgyzstan's overall trade turnover. The figure decreased by 7 percent compared to the same period in 2022 when it reached $1.4 billion.

Kyrgyzstan's exports to the CIS countries totaled $391.5 million, showing an increase of 8.7 percent compared to the corresponding months in 2022 ($360.2 million). These exports constituted 63.5 percent of Kyrgyzstan's total exports.

Imports from the CIS countries into Kyrgyzstan were valued at $931.6 million, or 28.5 percent of its total imports. The figure declined by 12.3 percent compared to the $1 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2022.
