BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. The engineering industry stands out as having the most promising export opportunities from Lithuania to Kyrgyzstan, a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania told Trend.
"While all areas of cooperation are important, the engineering industry stands out as having the most promising export opportunities. This includes various machines and equipment, with a focus on medical and laboratory equipment, sewing machines, machinery for the food industry, and cargo handling equipment. In addition, there are opportunities in the production of rubber and plastic products, electrical equipment, including various components of electric circuits and electric heaters, and automotive parts," the source said.
It was noted that in the food industry, there are prospects for exports of vegetable and animal fats and oils from Lithuania to Kyrgyzstan, as well as animal feed and confectionery products.
"The chemical industry also presents opportunities, primarily in various construction materials and paints and varnishes. To capitalize on these opportunities, it is crucial for Lithuanian businesses to explore and expand their presence in the Kyrgyzstan market," the source said.
According to Lithuanian statistics, in 2022, Kyrgyzstan ranked 30th in terms of trade turnover among Lithuania's 211 trading partners, with trade turnover between the countries amounting to 372 million euros.
Kyrgyzstan was the 24th Lithuanian export partner, with exports from Lithuania to Kyrgyzstan reaching 325 million euros. The country held the 45th position among Lithuania's import partners, with Lithuania importing goods worth 47 million euros from Kyrgyzstan.
"Lithuania also supports the conclusion of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union (EU) and Kyrgyzstan. This agreement will serve as a framework agreement for strengthening cooperation between the EU and Kyrgyzstan in many vital areas," the source said.
Lithuania and Kyrgyzstan have had friendly bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in July 1992.
