BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 11. Kyrgyzstan's milk production totaled 1.207 million tons from January through August 2023, which is a 2.2-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.
Data from the country's State Statistical Committee reveals that the Chuy region recorded the highest milk production, reaching a total of 304,327 tons.
Breakdown of milk production by regions:
Chuy region: 304,327 tons
Jalal-Abad region: 259,875 tons
Osh region: 239,046 tons
Issyk-Kul region: 182,260 tons
Naryn region: 99,715 tons
Batken region: 67,000 tons
Talas region: 52,526 tons
Osh city: 2,630 tons
Bishkek city: 269 tons.
The average milk yield per cow was 1,354 kg, with above-average milk yields reported in farms located in the Chuy (1,998kg), Talas (1,546 kg), and Issyk-Kul (1,362 kg) regions.
The dairy industry of Kyrgyzstan is one of the leading industries in processing sector of Kyrgyz economy. Annual milk production in Kyrgyzstan amounted 1.734 million tons in 2022, which is 7.7 percent more than in 2021.
