BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 20. Kyrgyzstan has acquired 99.5 tons of pasture seeds from Russia with the aim of enhancing the productivity of low-yielding pastures in the country, Trend reports.
Across the country, 2,432 hectares of pasture areas have already been sown, which accounts for 24 percent of the plan for this year. The distribution by region is as follows:
Naryn region: 112 hectares;
Osh region: 972 hectares;
Jalal-Abad region: 469 hectares;
Issyk-Kul region: 854 hectares;
Chuy region: 25 hectares.
According to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the combined output of agricultural, forestry, and fishing production in Kyrgyzstan totaled 204.111 billion soms ($2.3 billion) from January through August 2023.
This figure is 1.5 percent lower than the same period in 2022. Horticulture constitutes 42 percent of the country's overall agricultural production.
The Chuy region led in agricultural product output, contributing over 26 percent, or 54.97 billion soms ($619.6 million), followed by the Osh region with 44.99 billion soms ($507 million), and the Jalal-Abad region with 41.76 billion soms ($470 million).
