BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 27. A total of 17,410 tons of potatoes were exported from Kyrgyzstan from January through September 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the country's National Statistical Committee reveals a 25.7 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022 (23,423 tons). The value of these exports decreased by 42.8 percent year-on-year to $2.863 million from $5.002 million during the same months of 2022.
Noteworthy that, Uzbekistan was the primary importer of Kyrgyzstan's potatoes during this reporting period, purchasing 13,510 tons for $1.423 million. Kyrgyzstan also shipped 3,562 tons of potatoes to Kazakhstan, worth $1.313 million.
A smaller quantity of potatoes, 306 tons valued at $104,800, was exported from Kyrgyzstan to Russia. Additionally, 21.5 tons worth $18,400 were sent to Azerbaijan, and 10 tons worth $2,300 were exported to Turkmenistan.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover totaled $10.790 billion from January through September 2023, which is an increase of 26.2 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Exports totaled $2.108 billion, up 49.6 percent from the first nine months of 2022. Imports increased by 21.6 percent year on year, hitting $8.681 billion in 2022.
