Kyrgyzstan's imports of natural gas increase

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 18. A total of 69,053 tons of natural gas in both liquid and gaseous forms were imported into Kyrgyzstan from January through October 2023, which marks a 16.9-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 (59,064 tons), Trend reports.

Data from the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan reveals that the value of these imports amounted to $20.963 million, which is an 11.6-percent decrease compared to the corresponding period in 2022 ($23.692 million).

During the period under review, Kyrgyzstan primarily imported natural and liquid gas from Russia – 63,137 tons valued at $19.030 million – and from Kazakhstan – 5,363 tons valued at $1.709 million.

Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover reached $12.297 billion from January through October 2023, increasing by 24.9 percent compared to $9.845 billion in the same period of 2022.

Exports from Kyrgyzstan totaled $2.443 billion during the 10 months, which is a 29.6-percent increase compared to $1.885 billion recorded from January through October 2022. Imports into Kyrgyzstan amounted to $9.854 billion during this period, reflecting a 23.8-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 ($7.959 billion).
