Kyrgyzstan's export of corn falls

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 12. Kyrgyzstan exported 16,573 tons of corn in 2023, which is 67.4 percent less than in 2022 (50,840 tons), Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the total value of corn exports amounted to $2.885 million, which is a 53.1-percent decrease from the $6.152 million recorded in 2022.

The primary destination for Kyrgyzstan's corn exports last year was Uzbekistan (16,012 tons, valued at $2.373 million). The figure declined by 67.6 percent in volume and by 50.8 percent in value compared to the preceding year.

Additionally, Kyrgyzstan exported 526 tons of corn to Kazakhstan, 22 tons to China, and 13.2 tons to Russia.

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover totaled $15.660 billion in 2023, a 29.9 percent increase over 2022 ($12.057 billion). The country's exports amounted to $3.308 billion, up 46.8 percent year-on-year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan reached $12.352 billion, which is an increase of 26 percent from $9.803 billion in 2022.
