BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 28. The combined gross output of agriculture, forestry, and fishing in Kyrgyzstan reached 24.236 billion soms ($270.763 million) from January through February 2024, which is a 1.4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, livestock production accounted for 98 percent of the total agricultural output, while crop production contributed 0.9 percent, forestry 0.1 percent, fishing 0.2 percent, and services 0.6 percent.
Farms and private households accounted for 95.4 percent of total
agricultural production. An increase in animal production drove the
period's expansion in agricultural product gross output. The Chuy
region had the highest share (26 percent) of the combined gross
output of agriculture, forestry, and fishery.
Kyrgyzstan is currently preparing seeds for the spring sowing
season of 2024. As of March 1 of this year, the country possessed
87.6 percent of the required 23,000 tons of wheat seeds.
