BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 9. The increase in consumer prices in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 51.8 percent from 2019 through 2023, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, over the past five years, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages have risen by 68 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products by 65.6 percent, non-food products by 37.8 percent, and tariffs for services provided to the population by 27.9 percent.
Meanwhile, the overall increase in consumer prices across the country in 2023 was 7.3 percent, declining compared to 14.7 percent in 2022.
Specifically, in 2023, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 3.4 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products by 11.3 percent, non-food products by 12.2 percent, and tariffs for services provided to the population by 9.1 percent.
In the past year, the most notable increases were observed in prices for rice, which skyrocketed by 39.9 percent. Additionally, fresh fruits saw a rise of 23 percent, while confectionery climbed by 9 percent. Fish prices increased by 8.3 percent. Other products like pasta and grain products, bakery, non-alcoholic beverages, dairy products, bread, cheese, meat, and flour have all seen varying degrees of price hikes, ranging from 1.3 percent to 7.3 percent.
