Kyrgyzstan discloses data on GDP growth in 1Q2024

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 12. The GDP of Kyrgyzstan reached 248.8 billion soms ($2.791 billion) from January through March 2024, increasing by 8.8 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to the preliminary estimations of the country's State Statistical Committee, an increase in GDP is attributed to the growth in sectors of production, service industry, and taxes on products.

The production sectors increased by 10.2 percent compared to January–March last year, while the service sectors grew by 8 percent, and net taxes on products increased by 9 percent.

In the GDP structure, the largest share (50.7 percent) was accounted for by the service sectors, decreasing by 3.7 percentage points compared to January–March last year, while the share of commodity-producing sectors increased by 1.5 percentage points to 27.9 percent.

Among the production sectors, the share of construction increased by 1.2 percentage points compared to the same period last year, reaching 4.5 percent of GDP; industry increased by 0.8 percentage points, accounting for 18.6 percent of GDP; and agriculture decreased by 0.5 percentage points to 4.8 percent of GDP.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan's GDP surpassed 1.2 trillion soms ($13.4 billion) in 2023, which is a 6.2 percent increase compared to 2022.
