BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 1. More than 188.382 million passengers were transported in Kyrgyzstan from January through April 2024, which is 4.8 percent, or 8.7 million people, more than the 179.724 million passengers in the same period of 2023, Trend reports.
In April of this year, compared to April 2023, there was an increase of 2.5 million people, or 5.6 percent, in passenger transportation. Additionally, compared to March 2024, there was a decrease of 5.7 percent, according to Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee.
The majority of passengers (over 95 percent) were transported by road (buses, minibuses, and taxis), with an increase of 11.5 million passengers, or 6.9 percent, compared to January–April 2023. Additionally, 67,900 passengers were transported by rail, while 362,500 passengers were carried by air transport.
Overall passenger turnover across all modes of transport from January through April 2024 reached 3.286 billion passenger kilometers, which is 3.5 percent higher than in the same period of 2023 (3.177 billion passenger kilometers).
